Cisco WS-C3650-48PS-S Power monitoring

Question

Hello all,

We have two of the above not stacked, they both have redundant power supplies. We want to add a node to alert us if one of the power supplies fails, but struggling to figure out how to get it to report the status of power supplies.

Has anyone added similar that could share their experiences?

Pull the redundant power supply out and note what message appears in syslog on the device. Then go to the syslog server and create a rule that alerts you when this particular kind of syslog message appears in the syslog database.

In syslog server go to View and select Alerts/Filter Rules. Then just create a new rule that send you an email to alert you of the power issue. Your email could contain something like this

Syslog message generated from device ${Hostname}: ${DateTime}

${MESSAGE}
