Stop alerts for higher level outages

We have Alerts for our Server teams for when a server goes down that meets the basic criteria of "Server & Down"

The problem is that when we lose server(s) at a location due to network outage, power loss ect and the alert still send out because it meets the trigger condition of Server & Down.

How can I tweak this alert to not sent out alerts when the Server is down only because the devices up the network chain are the reason for the alert?

  • , you'll want to look at Dependencies. These effectively allow you to define those relationships in order to suppress the alert storm from downstream objects. Based on your description I would recommend utilizing groups in your dependency definitions, it's the only way to group objects so that multiple objects can be used as either the parent or child in it. Without the use of groups, you'd have to do one-to-one relationships which is an overhead nightmare.
