Uninstall Syslog service.

Hi,

I'm trying to uninstall the 14 day trial of syslog server (9.4.1) eval. installed on Windows Server 2003.

There is no uninstall service on the management menu drop down. as per the instructions.

"Using the Service Manager, uninstall the service

Use the Manage | Uninstall the Syslogd service menu."

Some help required please.

Simon.

  • Simon,

I would uninstall through the Windows Programs and Features.

  • Hi,

This is a server (Windows Server 2003) and there is nothing to uninstall

in 'add or remove programs' related to syslog server.

    Simon.

  • Simon,

    In mine I see:

    Addremove.PNG

If you are not seeing this, I would reinstall Kiwi Syslog over the top of your current install (as the local admin, not a domain account).  This should give you option to uninstall.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try and let you know.

    Regards,

    Simon.

  • Hi,

Managed to remove all obvious items and reinstalled free edition, but

syslog server still thinks that I am running a trial version.

I don't feel that the uninstaller is not doing its job as there are many

registry entries and program files left after the uninstall process.

    Regards,

    Simon.

  • Simon,

You can go into the registry, and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Solarwinds\Syslogd on a 64 bit system.
