SWIS operates on two TCP ports: 17777 and 17778. The same operations are available on each port, but under different protocols. On port 17777, SWIS uses Microsoft's proprietary net.tcp protocol from the WCF stack. It uses a binary serialization for better performance, but it only works with .NET code. On port 17778, SWIS uses regular HTTPS and either SOAP or REST depending on the URL.

Thank you, I do remember reading that as well. I thought that port 17777 was for http and 17778 was for https for some reason.  I do get the "not safe" message when using https.  Are we missing a certificate or something?

The product creates a self-signed certificate at install time. All browsers and most other tools will warn about it.
