    Issues after Upgrade to NPM 11.5.2

      Hi All,

       

       

       

      Please help!!

       

      We are having following issues after upgrade to NPM 11.5.2 and SAM 6.2, please let us know how we could fix these,

       

         

          1. We have one Additional Web Server, Application Pool of Our Webserver stops randomly every 4-5 days.

         

          1. Sometimes when we click on Settings option, following Website error appears ,

         

          Unexpected Website Error . Object Reference not set to an instance of an object. 

         

          1. While Exporting Custom Properties, Additional (extra)Column get exported with Column heading as,

         

         

        sha1(<<All Custom property names separated by "|">>)

         

        4. While Creating Alert, the wizard times out after clicking next and does not function properly, one needs to be very quick to make an alert or else it will timeout within one minute. Alert home Screen will appear, it will have following message,

         

        A draft alert was saved at 11:21 AM » Return to editing Draft  » Delete Draft

         

        1. 5. While Creating Report, the wizard times out after clicking next and does not function properly, one needs to be very quick to make an Report or else it will timeout within one minute and Report Home Screen will appear.

         

         

         

        1. 6. NETWORK SONAR DISCOVERY does not work for WMI Based Polling. We are able to add nodes in Bulk, only using SNMP and ICMP. Nodes are not getting added in Bulk through Service Account Credentials  (WMI) in Sonar Discovery.

         

         

         

        But adding a single node option is working.

         

        1. 7. While Importing Custom Properties, the loading of file to be used for Importing takes lot of time, it never took so long for file to load  in previous version.

         

         

         

        1. 8. Console has become Slow.
        2. 9. Sometimes repeated pop up comes for authentication to Webserver.
        3. 10. While Working Normally on application "Unexpected Website Error" comes randomly after clicking on any option.

            Hello Niharika!

            Did you get any answer from Solarwinds about those issues?

            We are facing exactly the same over here. Many cases were opened with SW support team, but we still have problems.

              we had similar issues after the upgrade to the versions you specified. I ended up opening two cases to address the issues. We didn't have all of the symptoms you described, but these were the same:

              We had the Unexpected error show up almost every other time you clicked on anything, but the page reload would fix that. It was really annoying.


              For us the fix was to apply the NPM hotfix on both the main and additional poller and viola - all problems went away.

                  Jenya, thanks for the quick help.

                  What hotfix did you apply? Platform or NPM? We have a very critical environment and we will not have a maintenance window to apply both now.

                          Hello Jenya.

                          We applied it. NPM worked great for a while, then, the problems have come back. NPM is also running very slow... We upgraded NPM last Saturday (10-03) and since then everything is quite unstable.

                          Already had a ticket with solarwinds' support team about it, now we will ask them to escalate it.

                              I'm not sure what SolarWinds modules you have installed, but I would check out the hotfixes for them as well. This last upgrade had more hotfixes with it than ever before. Hope that helps.

                                  We are running NPM only.

                                   

                                  Just after upgrading to NPM 11.5.2, we applied all the hotfixes for Platform (Hotfix 5 - Cumulative) and NPM (Hotfix 1 and Hotfix 2). Despite this, NPM was very very slow and we opened some cases with Solarwinds' support. During one of the calls with solarwinds enginneers, they runned some installers and since then we started facing some of the same problems we had before (Unexpected website errors...).

                                  We then decided to post here and you give me the clue about hostfix 1. We reinstalled only these hotfix and everything worked for almost 10 hours. In this moment we are having the same problems again.

                                   

                                  We've just had a call with another SW Engineer and he told us he will pickup our case and check everything again. Hope he can help.

                            A new hot fix came out yesterday Hot fix 6

                             

                            Orion Platform 2015.1.2 Hotfix 6

                            * Incorrect group status is propagated to parent groups for some nested group structures.

                            * TCP/IP connection and memory leak in BusinessLayer alerting.

                            * Custom Chart - data not available on Group views.

                            * Subscriber improvements for version 11.5.

                            * Performance issues related to limitations and groups.

                            * Some resources are blank because the SQL query processor ran out of resources and could not build a query plan.

                            * Small issues related to limitations and groups, such as broken group member links.

                            * Alerts with Group Member conditions cause errors and fail to fire.

                            * Issue with increased Memory/CPU consumption.

                             

                             

                            Apply this Hotfix if you run any of the following SolarWinds products:

                            * NPM 11.5.2

                            * SAM 6.2.1

                            * SRM 6.1.1

                            Yes even we have seen similar symptoms. Memory shoots up to 90% for a day and then again its normal.

                             

                            In one case that i had raised, they found these things:

                            1. In collector directory, there are some duplicate entries which could cause problem when business layer loads. Need to remove the duplicate entry,

                            2. The netperfmon DB had lot of space that can be shrinked, When i checked with my DBA team, they said there is no need but SW engineer recommended stating this will improve the performance to a greater extent.

                            3. They also found in logs that IIS is crashing often and they have a hotfix for the same.

                             

                            So maybe these points can be checked. I have not taken any action yet but planning to execute what Engineer has suggested. Once i do it, will inform on the outcome.

                              We applied hotfix6 and I still have most of my group members links that don't work.  I've found a work around apparently I can try from here:  11.5.2 Groups Issue?

                              But this tells me that the hf6 didn't fix the problem with groups.
