I installed 9.1 today and I cannot figure out how to show my VM information and I am having worse luck in the manual. The changing views by device type did not work. But if it did, wouldn't that change all of my "net-snmp Linux" servers?
thanks
using Orion version 9.1 and a RO community screen you should see something like...
Displaying the vmware icon is something new in the 9.1 release.
There is a new ESX View that will be avaiable to take advantage of the new information. Make certain that the servers are configured in Admin /Views by device type (VMware ESX Server).
Yes. :)
I fixed the issue of Solarwinds not showing it as VMware - one of our network admins "tweaked" the snmp.conf file. However, I still don't see the VM's and I confirmed that the view is set to ESX Server Details. Did I miss a step?

That's good news.
Question
When you view your ESX Monitored server does your page display:
ESX Server Details - <your host server>
Also you need to verify that your account settings node details view is set to "By Device type"
