Endpoint Vendors Metric

Can anybody help me understand exactly what the UDT pie chart "Endpoint Vendors" is showing? I initially thought it was active devices but the numbers are way to high to represent current connections.

the pie-chart shows you all the active and the historically connected endpoints and their vendors.
