    Custom property to Interfaces

    amith

      Hi All,

      I am newbie to NPM.

I need to set a threshold performance alerts to some newly set interfaces (around 9 -10 interfaces). (alerts and email)

Before i am setting the thresholds in advance alert manager, i am creating a custom property for these 10 interfaces.

But after i create the custom property by seleting these interfaces.. when i view the values for these defined custom property, it is showing me all 11000 interfaces instead of 10 interface.

Please sugest, if there is any better way to create threshold interface utilization alerts.

          Hello amith,

The best approach would be to define the warning and critical thresholds for each interface and create a new alert based on the interface being in a a warning or critical state rather than defining a custom property to contain the value.

Step 1. Settings - > Manage Nodes. Change to interfaces and select 1 or more. Edit properties for the interface(s)

          2. Modify the Thresholds as required, to use fixed values, custom values or Dynamic baseline thresholds.

          3. Create a new alert to "Alert me when an interface warning or critical threshold is reached = True"

          Hope that helps,

          Tony
