I don't know for sure if this is what you're asking, but I thought that I'd give it a shot. Anyway, SolarWinds provides a guide for its certification; see the link below.
By the way, I'd recommend for you to look for study materials beyond what's available in the preparation guide. For example, there are many articles and videos in the SolarWinds website and in Thwack. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I am planning to do myself. I think the hardest thing will be self-discipline. I mean, since you'd be studying at your own pace, it will be very easy to get distracted and sidetracked. Still, it you devise a schedule and stick with it, you should be able to get ready for the SCP Certificaiton test. I am very hopeful that this will help both of us in our journey towards getting the SCP certification.
By the way, you're 100% correct. The SCP preparation guide is quite small. However, it does contain some links to documents and videos on each section. That's a pretty good start, although you (and me) are better off by looking for additional study materials. Also, I think that there are quite a bit of Thwackers that have passed the SCP exam. So, it'd be nice to get guidance from them since they'd know what works best to get the certification.
By the way, if your firm has fund$ available for training, you might also want to check the Corona Technical Services training. The link for the site is Solarwinds Training
I hope this helps.

saimon, and all test candidates
Just to give you some background, this exam is aimed at IT network management professionals with experience and a general understanding, with an emphasis on our suite of network monitoring software. You can think of this certification similar to many other product suite certifications out there such as Microsoft’s MCITP, MCSE, MCT, or Cisco’s CCNA and CCNP, or VMware VCP, for example. You have to have the foundational knowledge of the product, as well as specific enough experience with the platforms to achieve the credential.
So, the SCP prep guide is not intended to be a class or course to get you ready to take the exam. It's simply a way to know what to expect. We do offer about 13 training videos in the SCP Learning Center (SCP Learning Center – Network Management Training Videos ) that should be of help. And if you don't have the Network Performance Monitor software, you can download a free trial for 30 days to get a feel for the basics of the product: http://www.solarwinds.com/network-performance-monitor.aspx
Hope that helps. Good luck on the exam!
I wish you the best of luck also on this massive endeavor! I'll be also studying up trying to go for my SCP , let me know if you find anything decent other than their guide and vids, but for now.. TO THE BOOKSTORE!!!
I will be working on this belt notch and want to have it by year end. Love using the product but do not get all the time I would like to play and implement what really need to be done. Thanks for the info revbenae.
The videos and SCP preparation guide helped me a bit but getting hands on experience with the products will benefit you a lot more. I found that helped me when I was preparing for the SCP exam.
You can download a 30 day free trial for any of the SolarWinds Products.
Remember if you don't pass it the first time you still have another chance you get three attempts to try and pass the test.
Best of luck with the studies.
