Eclipse is unable to read the WSDL file

Following the SolarWinds Technical Reference for java, it requires the proxy classes generated by Eclipse’s New > Web Services > Web Service Client command.

upon reaching the step "Select Service implementation" step under "enter a URI to a WSDL, WSIL or HTML document" the IDE will feed back "Selection must be WSDL"

Kindly assist.

Rather than fight with WSDL issues (it didn't work for me when I tried it either, and the error message "Selection must be WSDL" is unhelpful in the extreme"), I recommend you switch to the JSON endpoint. All of the same operations are available and the formats is described in the same document.
We don't have a complete, documented sample for doing this from Java yet, but here's a simple program to get you started - see attached.

Besides querying data out from SWQL Studio, can you provide a sample about insert/import data to SolarWinds IPAM by using JSON but not directly import through Manage Subnets & IP Addresses web page?

IPAM does not currently support programmatic insert/import.

Does JSON allow for insert/import data for other solar winds modules for example NPM

The JSON API supports all of the same operations as the SOAP API. NPM supports some insert/import operations through the API. If you'll describe what you want to do I can let you know whether those specific cases are supported or not.
