How could SAM agent DR work?

We have several locations where we have decide to give SAM agents a try. These are 7000-10000ms latency sites where snmp or WMI would be unhappy but to small for a dedicated poller.

so my question is, if we are using server-based communication is there a way to flip these over to a new polling engine if the one they are on fails? Is it as simple

as changing the polling engine on the node details page?

what about in agent-based communication method?

  • Active Agents must be redirected to the DR Orion instance by one of the following methods

    • Redeploy the agents from the DR Orion instance
    • Update the existing installed agents to point to the DR instance manually via the Windows Control Panel.
    • Use the Active Directory Group Policy Administrative Template to update the Agent's settings on the hosts where the agent is installed to point to the DR instance.

Passive Agents should require really no modifications of the agent itself, but you will need to ensure that certain certificate keys are identical between both the primary and DR Orion instances. I know Bronx‌ is working on documenting this configuration for both Orion server migrations, as well as DR configurations. He may be able to provide a better idea when such a document may be completed.
