We recently set up syslog alerting and we are getting a pretty long stream of alerts into our NOC's email address.
The problem is, they aren't very useful at all because of one single issue.
I can't tell where they come from.
IP address is great, but it takes some digging.
From what I have read node variables in alerts should be available.
I don't have the time/resources available to do a hosts file or reverse dns mappings for all of our devices.
I have tried ${SystemName), ${SysName}, and a couple others, and nothing seems to work.
Any insights into this?
Would make syslog alerting so much more valuable to us.
