I started off landing an internship for my local city and did that for 2 summers while I was attending college. After college I managed to land a entry level job working with SolarWinds and network administration at my college. All I can say is internships are a golden opportunity to meet people and gain real world experience ^^
Some people start on help desk. It's a difficult job and usually doesn't pay well, but you'll learn lots. I broke into tech teaching at a sleazy 'diploma mill' college. Ugly, but with this credential I got a job at a real college, then a job as a real network administrator. Good luck.
