Orion Platform 2015.1.0 Hot Fix 4 - Now Available

SolarWinds Orion Platform 2015.1 Hotfix 4

------------------------------------------------------------

This Hotfix also includes Orion Platform 2015.1 Hotfix 1, Orion Platform 2015.1 Hotfix 2 and Orion Platform 2015.1 Hotfix 3.

This cumulative Hotfix addresses these issues:

(Orion Platform 2015.1 Hotfix 1)

                1. Event-based alerts do not respect the "Time Of Day" setting in web-based alerting.

(Orion Platform 2015.1 Hotfix 2)

                2. The BusinessLayer service crashes (system is not working) after the Daylight Saving Time change. This is caused by reports scheduled for 2-3 AM with a Daily/Weekly/Monthly frequency for the day when DST shift happens.

(Orion Platform 2015.1 Hotfix 3)

                3. The variable for the "From" field in email actions does not work.

                4. Incorrect node status in the reset email notifications.

                5. Users cannot delete interfaces after upgrading to Orion Platform 2015.1.

(Orion Platform 2015.1 Hotfix 4)

                6. Alert schedules that occur during the Daylight Saving Time change (2:00 a.m. - 3:00 a.m.) may no longer respect your maintenance windows.

                7. You receive false alerts about node reboots when users set nodes to 'Unmanaged'.

                8. You can only select individual recipients when sending page or SMS message with NotePager Pro.

                9. The Alert Manager in the web is empty when you have more than 5,000 alerts.

                10. The ampersand (&) is counted as an illegal character in email addresses in alert and report actions.

                11. The trap service stops after 45 minutes.

                12. VM Associations are incorrect in AppStack.

                13. Volume polling fails in Orion Platform when VMan integration is enabled.

                14. Database maintenance deletes alert history for all reset alerts.

Example of log message for second issue:

ERROR SolarWinds.BusinessLayerHost.BusinessLayerHostService - Unhandled exception caught by business layer host. System.ArgumentException: The supplied DateTime represents an invalid time. For example, when the clock is adjusted forward, any time in the period that is skipped is invalid.

Default location of log: c:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion\BusinessLayerHost.*

Apply this Hotfix if you run any of the following SolarWinds products:

- NPM 11.5

- SAM 6.2

- WPM 2.2

- SRM 6.0

- VIM 2.0

Notes:

- This Hotfix requires SolarWinds Orion Core 2015.1.

- Apply this hotfix once, even if you run multiple SolarWinds products on the same server.

- Install the HotFix even if you experience no problems to prevent the issue from occurring.

This Hotfix modifies the following files on your SolarWinds Orion server. Backup all files before making any changes to your server.

On the main poller it replaces:

                - C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SolarWinds.Common.dll

                - C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SolarWinds.Orion.Collector.Plugins.dll

                - C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Actions.dll

                - C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Alerting.dll

                - C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SWTrapService.exe

On all additional websites it replaces:

                - C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NetPerfMon-WebSite.zip

Run following script on your SQL database:

                - dbm_AlertHistory_DeleteOrphans.sql

Note 1: These are the default locations of each file.

To install this Hotfix on your main poller

-----------------------------

1. Log on to the server hosting your SolarWinds Orion installation as an administrator.

2. Using the Orion Service Manager, stop all SolarWinds Orion services.

                a. Start the Orion Service Manager (SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager).

                b. Click "Shutdown Everything".

                c. Close the Orion Service Manager.

3. Backup the files listed in the modified files list above. The backup location must be outside the Orion installation directory.

4. If required by the OS, unblock the file using the following procedure:

                a. Right-click on the file.

                b. Select 'Properties'.

                c. From the General tab, click the 'Unblock' button, and click 'OK'.

5. Extract "OrionPlatform-2015.1-HotFix4.zip", and run the "Setup.exe" executable on this server to extract the hotfix archive.

6. Replace the following files within C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SolarWinds\InformationService\V3:

                a. SolarWinds.InformationService.Core.dll

7. Replace the following files within C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Information Service\3.0\Plugins:

                a. SolarWinds.Data.Providers.AppStack.dll

8. Replace the following files within C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\:

                a. NetPerfMon-WebSite.zip

                b. SolarWinds.Common.dll

                c. SolarWinds.Orion.Collector.Plugins.dll

                d. SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Actions.dll

                e. SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Alerting.dll

                f. SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Alerting.Plugins.dll

                g. SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Collector.dll

                h. SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Common.dll

                i. SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Models.dll

                j. SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Pollers.dll

                k. SWTrapService.exe

9. Run the Configuration Wizard from the Start menu (SolarWinds Orion > Configuration and Auto-Discovery > Configuration Wizard)

10. Using the Orion Service Manager, check if all SolarWinds Orion services are running.

                a. Start the Orion Service Manager (SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager).

                b. If services are not running, click "Start Everything".

11. Clear your browser cache and log on to the web console.

To install this Hotfix on all additional pollers

1. Log on to the server hosting your SolarWinds Orion installation as an administrator.

2. Using the Orion Service Manager, stop all SolarWinds Orion services.

                a. Start the Orion Service Manager (SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager).

                b. Click "Shutdown Everything".

                c. Close the Orion Service Manager.

3. Backup the files listed in the modified files list above. The backup location must be outside the Orion installation directory.

4. If required by the OS, unblock the file using the following procedure:

              

                a. Right-click on the file.

                b. If services are not running, click "Start Everything".

To install this Hotfix on all additional websites

                a. Start the Orion Service Manager (SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager).

                b. If services are not running, click "Start Everything".

9. Clear your browser cache and log on to the web console.

To uninstall this Hotfix:

1. Log on to the server hosting your SolarWinds Orion main poller, additional poller, and additional website as an administrator.

2. Using the Orion Service Manager, stop all SolarWinds Orion services.

              

                a. Start the Orion Service Manager (SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager).

                b. Click "Shutdown Everything".

                c. Close the Orion Service Manager.

3. Replace the modified files with their appropriate backup files.

4. Using the Orion Service Manager, check if all SolarWinds Orion services are running.

              

                a. Start the Orion Service Manager (SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager).

                b. If services are not running, click "Start Everything".
