CREDENTIALS OF A NEW HOST ADDED FROM A MANAGED VCENTER

    yaris.g

      Hi,

I really hope i posted this on the right place

When I add a host from a vCenter allready configured on the solarwinds system, the 'Pull for VMware' is allready marked with the note "Polling for this ESX Host is handled by vCenter using existing credentials."

My question is what credentials the system use? one of the credentials i pre-configured earlier on the system or the credentials the vCenter communicates with the host ( the credentials I added when i added the host to the cluster )

      thanks in advance

The credentials would be what are configured within SolarWinds to talk to the VCenter.  If you don't have the VCenter added into SolarWinds, then you can go into Settings > Virtualization Settings, find the host, place a check next to it and under Poll Through, change the setting to poll the ESX host directly at which point will have to provide credentials.  If you are monitoring the VCenter within SolarWinds, then when SolarWinds collects the data from that poll, it will also grab the ESX host and virtual machine information as well I'd imagine.
