    Trying to read inlet/outlet temps on Cisco 4500x

      I recently imported some Cisco 4500x's into our Solar Winds (Orion platform) using SNMP.  It reads everything fine, power, bandwidth, configs and even temperature.

       

      The issue is, the only temperature that shows up is on the individual GBIC ports.  However, when I do a #sho environment on the switch itself, I see it has inlet and outlet temps which are not showing up on Solar Winds.  See below for a comparison.

      Any help would be appreciated.

          You're best bet would be to use the snmpwalk.exe tool in the install directory on that device, then try to match the values with the temp readings you see on the device at the time you run the walk.  This would give you the OID to use to create a poller for SolarWinds to begin collecting this data.

              Thanks for writing back.  I did a walk on it and noted the inlet and outlet temp at the time.  I'm going through with ctrl+f and searching for those numbers, but I'm not sure that's the best way.  I tried looking for something called inlet or outlet.  There was a few entries called "temperature" but they were referring to the gbic ports that I'm seeing.

               

              But somehow the Cisco knows it's in and out temp, so it should be available somehow, right?

                  I'd assume, unless it's just something Cisco didn't make available via SNMP.  I wouldn't imagine that would be the case though.  I did some digging and found that this OID may help.  1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3

                      Yes, I just found something similar on a Cacti forum and I think that is it (I used .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1).  It returned the following, which looks promising.  Now I just need to read up on how to make a custom poller.  Thanks!
