    Virtualizing Solarwinds Server

We're migrating our SW server to a virtual appliance. Does anyone have any gotchas or caveats from having done this before? Specifically the question has come up whether or not NTA will function normally on a VM.

NTA is fine as a VM, but ensure that your databases for NTA and NPM do not live on the same SQL Server instance--in fact, we go as far as to keep the two databases off of the same cluster. Good luck!

NTA is fine on a VM and indeed is tested in a virtualized environment.  Pay special attention to IOPs for your flow database (SQL up to 3.11, then FSDB for all later versions).  You'll have to ensure the potentially significant IOP demand is fully covered, as you would with any database server.
