Dell Client Configuration Utility (DCCU)

To deploy Dell Catalog updates via WSUS/Patch Manager, you'll need to install the Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent. This package provides the WMI namespace that the detection logic from the rest of the packages is built upon.

I kind of figured you'd point me in the right direction. I don't see anything with that name anymore. Is it equivalent to something in the Dell Client Command Suite?

EDIT: Never mind. I see that the OpenManage Inventory Agent is in the Dell catalog. 2001 packages seems like a lot to import, but it's equally way too many to sift through to get rid of things we don't want. Oh well, here goes nothing.

You can download the Command Configure EXE and extract out the MSI, and set that up for deployment with Patch Manager if you are feeling so bold.

You could probably put in a pre-req rule that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\SystemBiosVersion contains "DELL" - that way it wouldn't apply to your non-Dell machines.

Please note that I'm completely spit-balling here.  I don't have a valid environment to test this kind of deployment.

2001 packages seems like a lot to import,

You don't actually have to SYNC the catalog, although 2000 updates is only a couple MB of XML data.

You can DOWNLOAD the catalog, and then use the "Import Catalog" action to select only the packages you want.

Oh, thanks for that find. Considering DCCU hasn't been updated in several years, that might be a better option.

I give a +1 to that, Lawrence Garvin. The catalog is very manageable after having been imported.
