Column-oriented DBMS

Now Netflow collection performance collection has been enhanced by the implementation of a Column-oriented database (replacing SQL server), is there the future possibility of this being also used to enhance other NPM time series collection?

The switch in NTA 4.0 caught us by surprise a little.

Implementations with large (multiple) installations normally like as much planning time as possible for architecture changes such as this (not that we don't appreciate the performance gains and separation form the main database server).

Perhaps now the technique has been used in NTA to good effect - development might be looking for further applications?

Does anyone know what column based DBMS was used for NTA?

Dave.
