CatTools Connect problem with HP2920

I have downloaded CatTool trial and want to connect to a HP2920 using SSH. After adding the device, i added a simple Report.Port info table Activity.

Now when i execute the Activity with capture mode enabled, i get an error "Did not receive command prompt after connecting via SSH".

If i connect to the Switch using putty, i get a "Press any Key to continue" after the log-in.  So i assume that CatTool gets stuck there.

How can i either tell CatTool to send a key at that stage or disable that on the switch ?

  • Hi,

Can you try using the variations for pre-login key settings with teh below help?

    SolarWinds CatTools

  • Thank you for the tip. I tried Post-Login Keystroke and when that did not work, i also entered Post-Login Message.

However, it still does not work ;-(

    I get:

    Login to RED2 failed

Did not receive command prompt after connecting via SSH

    Waiting for command prompt

    Login HP.Switch.Others: RED2

Using putty, i press SPACE after the login and then get command prompt: red-switch#

Any Idea what i could try ?

  • Hi,

Can you get me the debug log of this device?. Follow the below steps,

1.Enable the capture mode under file menu.

    2.Run the activity.

3.Find the debug log under Debug  folder in the name like 'DebugLog-X-XXXXXX_X'(XXXXXXXXXX-Your device Name)

  • Hi,

    Please do the below,

1.Configure the pre-login key stroke as space

2.Prelogin text as 'Press any key to continue'

    And Try.

  • Hi Nanda,

Thank you for this. I did now use pre-login instead of post-login like you suggestet above. After i also changed the standard prompt to '#', the login actually worked.

However, now i have messages like "Waiting for an echo of screen-lenth disable command" or "Waiting for an echo of system-view command" and also failure to entering enable mode. (Now set command for enabled mode to "configure" and now have to figure out what expected prompt would be like.

I assume the current command set for HP.Switches.Others does not match too well with 2920 model.
