    Migrate Orion Server

      Good Morning,

We need to change the Orion Application Server to upgrade the hardware and SO version. Our intention is to keep the same hostname and IP Address of the current server in a new one.

In one first step, we don't want to upgrade the current Orion Application version. The reason of the hardware migration is to have a better hardware resource before upgrade Orion to the last stable version.

      The database server doesn't change.

What do we have to know to move the Licence from the previous server to the new server? A particular consideration?

Please could you give us a little guide or recomendations to make this migration as better as possible?

      Current Infractructure:

      Aplication Server:

      SO: W2003 Standard

      Orion Core 2012.2.0, NCM 7.1.1, NPM 10.4, IVIM 1.5.0

      DB Server:

      W2003 Standard

      SQL Server 2005 Enterprise

      Thanks a lot.

Follow these steps to move Solarwinds Orion to the new application server.

          1.  Deactivate all the solarwinds licenses from the solarwinds license manager.

          2.  Download the installer versions of your Orion modules that you currently have (Orion Core 2012.2.0, NCM 7.1.1, NPM 10.4, IVIM 1.5.0)

          3.  Activate all your licenses on your new application server, you will be asked this when you are running your NPM and NCM installers.

          4.  Reattach your NPM and NCM databases to the new server.

Once this is done and as long as your maintenace is current.  You can upgrade your modules anytime after this is completed. Hope this helps
