SFTP/SCP Server root directory issue

I forgot to add that the SCP/SFTP server is running on Win Server 2008 R2 standard - Service pack 1, 64 bit server.

you can change it in c:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\sftp_cfg.xml. Change value for element RootDirectory (default value is c:\SFTP_Root).

Example:

<RootDirectory>C:\NewDirectory</RootDirectory>

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. It still reverted back to the default "SFTP_Root" folder even after I changed it twice. I also uninstalled it and reinstalled but there's no option to specify the root directory during installation.

This design is really awful.

I take it that none of the developers that created this server (SCP/SFTP) has any clue on how to resolve this. It would be nice to know why this product was designed without a means of selecting the root directory. Why offer it if it won't work?

can you please contact our support to have a Customer Issue officially? Since the SFTP server is a free product, it has different "maintenance" policies than paid products so we need to track it officially if we want to make any exception out of the bug-fixing process.

Hi Peter,

I contacted Solarwinds Support (my company has support for our licensed Solarwinds products) and was told to go online and post on Thwack.

I was able to resolve this issue through the Orion web console (Settings -> NCM Settings -> Network-> SCP Server -> Specify a config transfer directory). It's been 3 days and the default folder has not changed.

Thanks for figuring this out for us.  I had the same issue, and I am going to try setting it via the NCM settings instead.

The op is almost four years old and still the easiest solution. Thanks!
