Testing Enviroment License

Is there a way we can be issued a license for a testing environment? Or is reverting to snapshot what works best?

When it comes to configuring Web Helpdesk it seems the best way is trial and error, and when I start doing this in production it slows WHD down even more.

We had looked for this a few months ago and there is no free test environment license. We purchased an additional 5 user license and explained it was only for testing upgrades or major workflow changes and they did give us a reasonable discount.

If it is testing something you want to change why not try the online demo to see if it works Web Help Desk Online Demo and Demo Videos okay it won't be exactly the same but may help with certain tweaks you might try.

We wanted to test things using our internal DB instead of trying to recreate a bunch of custom action rules and approver groups. Also if you are trying to set up a new Asset Discovery connection to ensure that your field mappings are all correct you need it to be local. Its in a VM that I can snapshot back if I break anything.
I copied over our prod DB took the VM off the network brought the DB into SQL then changed the outgoing email addresses to something like WHDDEV so they don't mess with our prod db and it works out well.

Fair enough, I can understand that this type of thing you would want to do on a test bed with your own data
