Was latest Adobe Shockwave Player Classified Incorrectly?

Hi, we usually filter out all but "Security Updates" from our views within Patch Manager as a means to eliminate the things we need to sift through when deploying 3rd party updates.

We noticed that the latest "Adobe Shockwave Player 12.0.7.148 MSI (Upgrade)" is classified as "Tools" and not "Security Updates".

Reading into the Adobe Security Bulletin located HERE, it shows that this is in fact a Security Update not just a "tool". A couple screenshots below.

Is there a specific reason why this was classified as a Tool when all other indications show it as a Security Update?

Thanks,

G

Adobe Security Bulletin - Mozilla Firefox.jpg

  • Hi,

While adding the package to catalog security bulletins were not updated by the vendor but application got released, Generally when there are no information about the update in the vendor page we mark the classification as tools. As the security bulletins were updated we have updated the security info please re-sync the catalog to get the updated security info.
