I'm looking to script the creation of an additional subinterface on 50+ routers. The ip scheme needs to follow what is currently in place. The second octect identifies the router and the scheme. For example: 10.3.0.1 would be one subinterface 10.3.1.1 another 10.3.2.1 etc. So in this example i need the script to use the 10.3.0.1 to connect to the device, identify the second octect and then apply it in the creation of the next subinterface, which could need to be 10.3.5.1. I assumed this would be easy when i set out looking for a way to do it. I was wrong in my assumption.
