You should be able to create local groups on the server and then link to those groups within the web console.
From the Admin Guide (p228):
"complete the following steps:
- Provide the User Name and Password for a user that has administrative access to your Active Directory or local domain.
- In the Search for Account area, enter the Group name of the Active Directory or local domain group for which you want to create a new web console account, and then click Search.
- In the Add Users area, select the users for whom you want to create new web console accounts, and then click Next.
- User Account view displays, showing all configurable account options. For more information about editing account settings, see "Editing User Accounts" on page 228."
I am sorry... what I should have said is, I want to create groups/roles within our NPM product only. I do not want to create, and/or use, any users/accounts/groups from the actual server.
I would only want to create a few different groups.
- Service dept.
- Support dept.
Each group with having a set view, permissions, etc...
Due to my lack of knowledge and experience, I ask if my request was/is unreasonable, inefficient, or just flat out the wrong way to do things... I was able to show/list the local groups, however, I am simply not familiar enough with going about it this way.
Thanks for the info,
I don't think you can create Orion-specific groups, only individual accounts. (Someone else may chime in and correct me on that).
Might be a good idea to go into the Feature Requests section.
Sorry. NPM only creates internal user accounts. Internal groups cannot be created. You must use Active Directory Groups.
