Information Required about Polling Completion ? ?

There are certain factors which can influence the polling rate completion. For Example

• Polling rate interval v's number of elements
• Network Bandwidth between polling engines and elements

• Hardware limitations - particularly on SQL Server

The rule of thumb we suggest is 1,000 elements per minute X statistics collection polling interval. I.E.: Using a 5 minute polling interval for nodes and interfaces = about 5,000 elements. YMMV

What is:

• your current polling rate completion on each polling engine?
• Total number of elements?

Current Polling rate completion :- 99.66 %

Total Number of Elements :- 2957

Furthermore I would like to Upgrade NPM from version 10.1.1 to version 10.4.1.

I have gone through the Administration guide, but not understood few things

Firstly  do i need to take a backup of SQL server while upgrading from 10.1.1 to 10.4.1  ? ?

Secondly how much downtime i need to do the same ? ?

It will be more helpful if you explain the same...

Hi Rohan,

A backup of the Solarwinds SQL Database is sufficient. Depending on the size of the database, backup location etc the process could take minutes to hours. When the upgrade to 10.4.2 is complete you will have additional information on the polling engines.

I would exoect there to be anywhere from 1-3 hours downtime.
