Best approach to non-SNMP Server performance monitoring in a DMZ

I'm already monitoring basic CPU/memory/disk usage via SNMP but I would like to poll for IIS specifics such as bytes sent and received/sec, current connections, connection failures.  RDP stats such as active and inactive sessions.  Our network engineers are against opening all the ports required for WMI, as you would expect.  I know some performance monitors use RPC and I haven't looked into the port requirements for that but just wanted some general guidance before I spend a ton of time researching this.  Are there some best practices for doing this type of monitoring in a DMZ?

      Thanks guys.
