Monitoring Port-Channels for 'degradation'

Just a quick question:

I'd like to be able to generate alerts when one or more members of a port-channel (eg, gigabit links) go down. Such an event would reduce the port-channel's bandwidth, and I'd like to know if there's any easy way to compare a baseline bandwidth (as shown on the interface details page, for example) with a degraded bandwidth value. Basically, I need to know whether NPM stores a 'baseline' bandwidth against which we can compare current bandwidth to detect degradation.

Any ideas?
