Need help setting up an alert for F5 loadbalancer Cluster State

    hmartinez930

I need  a little help setting up an alert for F5 load balancers. I have the correct OID (F5ClusterState) loaded in Orion. If i look at the Node Tab Universal Poller on the Web Console I can see tha tthe Cluster state for each load balancer shoes Acivite for one and Standby for the other.

What I'm trying to do is find the correct alert that will Poll lwhen the state changes from Active to Stanby and vice versa.

I ran a bunch of test alerts but nothing shows as active or standby.

          Hi hmartinez930,

The good news is you've the hard part done, getting the right OIDs can sometimes be tricky.

With the UnDP setup the just open the Alert Manager, open the Trigger Actions tab and at the very top is a drop down menu "Type of Property to Monitor", change this to "Custom Node Poller".

Add a simple condition, for example - "NodeStatus is equal to Down". In this case you would likely want your trigger conditions to look something like

"Poller Name is equal to <poller_name>"

          and

          "Status has changed"

Then the rest is just setting up your actions like any other alert.

          Hope it helps,

          All the best,

          Erica
