Issues monitoring NetApp using SNMP

Through no fault of Orion NPM, I am seeing false data on my NetApp monitoring. NetApp has confirmed that their SNMP agent is faulty and that they have no plans to fix it. Does Solarwinds have any plans on utilizing the NetApp API to gather statistics on NetApp devices rather than using SNMP (like VMware ESX)?

We currently have no plans for this in NPM. We have a dedicated storage product that is able to do this though (sorry for the sales pitch).

Thanks for the response. So that there is no mistake on my part, what is the storage product name? This product uses the NetApp API to gather interface information and uses the API as much as possible?

I am using NPM 10.2, will upgrade soon. Just want to verify that this is still true, that one must use the storage product to correctly monitor the netapp interfaces. Some of this things I see that are hinky just using snmp are:
Clustered FAS 3240s, releast 8.1:
64-bit counters enabled on node but on interfaces it says 64bit counters = no
iscsi int reporting it is at 2.82G when is should read 10gig

I think Mav might be referring to Storage Manager. I have used in this in many customer environments and it is quite strong in its abilities to monitor and manage a variety of storage vendor products.

Have you tried using the custom pollers that are posted in content exchange. I have found that they do work with these filers. You have to add them to each filer in NPM and customize the node page to display the info. It is not real pretty, but it gives you something.

Yes, Storage Manager can monitor NetApp 8.1 in 7-mode. Did you give it a try?
