You do this from Administration and Reporting -> Administrative Tasks - Inventory.
Select the computers to inventory.
Select 'Create a custom inventory configuration template'.
On the 'Datasource Configuration' tab delect all datasources except 'Files'.
On the 'File, Directory and Registry Datasource Configuration' tab you can either browse locally or select 'Manually Add/Modify'
Add the file you wish to inventory
Save the template
Schedule and/or Run the task.

Depending on the search this could cause quite a bit of network and hard drive activity.
This is probably best accomplished with and custom script execution which we are looking possibly adding in version 1.8.
