Prevent 3rd Party Apps from Prompting for updates

Eric,  that registry change will not prevent eminentware from installing updates.

Additionally, you could make use of the packageboot feature to implement those registry changes along with the Java installation if you are not already doing this via GPO or other means.

Thanks for answering Sean.  I have made that registry change on a test system that has Java 6u22 installed.  When I create a WSUS deployment of Java 6u23 to that system, it just reports that it is compliant and does not update. 

Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

Is this a custom Java package you have made or is it the one provided in the EminentWare catalog?

The complaince or applicability and install of the update does not check for the presence of values in HKLM\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy\. Only the values in the HKLM\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6\

If you delete the Policy keys you have created does it still show compliant?

This is a Java Package as provided by Eminent Ware (Our SCCM Administrator downloaded the bits from Sun, Eminentware created the metadata/package).

I deleted the Policy keys from the registry and the system no longer showed as compliant and WSUS deployed the Java 6u23 update.  Not sure why but the Policy key seems to prevent WSUS from deploying the update when it is in place.
