    switchport mapper problem

    ttl

We have a switch stack of six 3750's that I am trying to map using the ET Switchport Mapper. The switch is using SNMPv2, and the credential test passes. However, after running the map, it fails with the errors below... (VLAN numbers have been removed removed). Does anyone know how to fix this?

From the log it appears like the connection got broken when reading the port table. However, you may want to try couple things before calling our support:

          1) force usage of SNMPv1 (Go to Settings - Port Map Settings - uncheck "Use GetBulk" for both L2 and L3 device).

          2) try the old Switch Port Mapper (installed into Toolset installation directory as Deprecated_SwitchPortMapper.exe).

          3) make sure you can read the port and interface tables. For instance, you can use MIB Browser to test whether you can pull the ifTable from the device using the same community string you used in Switch Port Mapper.

          ifTable OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2

          Port Table OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.1.4

Thanks for the suggestion. This time I got all the way through the mapping, but only the VLAN interfaces show up. The log shows this:

              Layer 3 log Messages

              5/4/2012 8:09:17 AM - Testing credentials...

              5/4/2012 8:09:17 AM - Downloading ARP Table...

5/4/2012 8:09:30 AM - Stopping collection message: Error getting data result: Error

              5/4/2012 8:09:30 AM - Error getting data

I am able to do a MIB Browse and pull the interface table.

This last message is not related to Layer 2, but Layer 3 device. Check on the accessibility of the ARP table on the layer 3 device. In the latest version, Switch Port Mapper supports two different ARP tables:

                  ipNetToPhysicalTable (1.3.6.1.2.1.4.35)

                  ipNetToMediaTable (1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22)

ipNetToPhysical is read first. If it is not accessible, or does not contain any entries, ipNetToMedia is read.
