    Application Status is Unknown

    mthumphrey

I've got a problem on a few of my SQL servers where the Components are reporting an error:

      Using:

      Orion Core 2011.2.2, SAM 5.0.0, IPSLAMGR 3.5.1, NPM 10.2.2, NTA 3.9.0, IVIM 1.2.0

Bad input parameter. Cannot access a closed
      registry key. Object name: 'HKEY_PERFORMANCE_DATA'.

The Application status is unkown, and it reports this same error for all of the components in the SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance (WMI) application.

Any idea why this is happening?

Also, is this the correct place to post a question like this?

      Thanks,

I'd have put it in Server & Application Monitor (a.k.a. SAM/APM)

can you see the counters if you run perfmon locally on the server?

if yes, can you get other wmi data remotely?  (like disk queue length?)

if no, is the counter installed/enabled?  use EXCTRLST.EXE you get it out of one of the resource kits or extra tools from MS
