I'm having the same issue. Just finished upgrading to 5.0.1 and cannot login to the application console. I *am* able to login to the admin portal (:5480).
Got the same issue here. Can't login to the console after the upgrade. Tried resetting and blanking the admin password in prostgres, no change.
When refreshing the login page i get a greyed out login dialogue box saying Restoring Session, Please Wait.
Cleared all cookies and content and tried again, no change.
Tried loading the web console in IE8, IE9, FF7, no change.
Am still able to log into the backend console @:5480 and confirm that it is collecting and processing data in the Mgmt logs.
I was forced to create a new appliance to continue gathering data. Also tried migrating the database from the old vman appliance to the new. Migration process was not successfull as it timed out or crashed. Can't confirm..

We are looking into the issue, will keep you posted when we have a resolution.
Brian, do you have any kind of estimate as to when this issue will be resolved? I should have taken a pre-upgrade backup or snapshot, but I didn't, and now our visibility into our VMware environment is significantly limited.
We would also like a rough estimate of the scope of the issue by today if at all possible.
