Alert for down thin access points not working

Are you seeing the thin AP as down in NPM? What type of AP is this?

The AP disappears from the list of thin APs. It is not seen at all neither as up nor down.

it is a cisco air-cap3502i-a-k9.

I put it down by de-plugging it. removing the RJ-45 cable.

Keep in mind that it won't transition to  a down state. If it does not trasition within 5 minutes please open a ticket so we can investigate further.

they explained the behavioral design of Orion. They it's 'normal'. But, that's not what I want.

I want it to raise an alarm either when an AP changed its state or simply get removed or added.

Same problem here. I tested by changing the Trigger Condition on the out-of-the-box alert to "Status is equal to Up". Nothing came through. I'm trying to understand why Solarwinds would include a default alert that does not work.

As a work around, change the Trigger Condition to "Status is equal to Unknown" rather than Down and then test it. This should alert you when a Thin AP actually goes Down.

I got it working. Problem appears to be that when you enter only a period / full-stop in the body of the Alert text, the message is not e-mailed, though subsequent alert actions (like logged to Events) still work. Sound like a bug-like feature.
