How to Create External Process Monitor

Ok, I'm pretty new to ipmonitor.  My understanding is that we need to use ipmonitor's external process monitor in order to creat the alerts we need.  My problem is I have no idea how to create this monitor.  I've read several articles where they said they created one, but I don't even know how to do that.  How do you exactly create one?

This our situation.  We've got network load balancing (NLB) enabled on 12 different windows 2008 r2 boxes (virtual) that we need monitored.  This link from MS has someone who wrote a vbs script that will monitor it http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/cc307934%28v=vs.85%29.aspx.  I'm just not familiar with incorporating this vbs into ipmonitor.

Not being a coder and all, but I'm assuming in this case I'd need 12 different monitors with each computer name in it to watch.  Which is fine if its the simplest, cleanest way of identifying a machine that has a failed NLB running on it..
