Monitor Ping Down, all monitored services alert

I've been trying to figure this out for a bit now, but the answer is obviously too ..well, obvious for me to see it.

I would like to know if there's a way to tell IPM to not send out alerts for every monitored service on a Windows host if the host is rebooted? So if the PING monitor is triggered as being down, I don't want to get alerted for the service checks as well (ie. drive monitors, windows services, etc).

Is there a way to do this easily?

Setup the Ping monitor as the dependency...this way if PING goes down you dont get alerted for everything else on that device. Although this works pretty good there is always the chance that the timing of another monitor will go down before the ping will so its not a 100% sure-fire way of getting what you want but it does work the majority of the time.

In my case i set the PING montor to a shorter interval than the rest of the monitors for the given device so that way almost 100% of the time the PING goes down first so i am only alerted for it and not all the other monitors on that device.

Thanks all for the advice. PING is set up as a dependancy on each of my monitored hosts. I think the issue I'm having is the timing. I need to set the ping interval to be shorter.

I do the following as a standard:
PING
--60 seconds for Up, Warn, and Down
--5 before alert is sent
CPU, Memory, Services, Etc...
--180 seconds for Up, Warn, and Down
--5 before alert is sent
As long as the PING is a dependency, this will suppress all other alerts.
