Gettings lots of 'unknown SNMP' messages

On a few of my network switches i get alot of logs saying something like

"unauthorized SNMP community from <Solarwinds IP> to unknown community name (xxxxxx)"

I get these errors for a few different community strings, none of which are the ones we use (for exmaple public)

I can't find anywhere in the Solarwinds server where these incorrect SNMP communities are being used.

The devices are monitored using one SNMP community which is working, but i keep getting these errors constantly.

Any thoughts?

You can check whether NPM is using these strings in the DB. Run "SELECT DISTINCT Community, RWCommunity from Nodes" to list the community strings, and "SELECT NodeID,IP_Address, Community, RWCommunity from Nodes" to identify the nodes.
Another idea - do you have any scheduled discoveries, running periodically? You can specify a separate set of communities for each discovery, so this could be another thing to check.

I don't have access to the DB server, is there a way with Solarwinds to run those commands?
I checked the schedules... we dont have any running.

If you have credentials to that DB, you can use the Database Manager tool.
Another option is to create a "Current Status of Nodes, Volumes etc." report in Report Writer. There is an "SNMP Community" field available under Network Nodes - Node Details

Thanks for that.
I ran the report and there are no nodes in the DB that use the SNMP communities that i get the error from....
I might try removing the node and adding it again....

Check if you have IPAM on Orion server and you have any wrong SNMP entry trying to discover node on your network ..This could generate failed attempt and loged in Cisco nodes.
Check all other application running on Orion server that may using SNMP entries / Check IPSLA as well if you have on Orion server.

This worked for me. I couldn't figure out what the heck was polling on SMNPv2, but it looks like it was IPAM.
