Issue with inaccuracies in the latency shown by NPM for Checkpoint EDGE firewalls

I'm having an issue where NPM is reporting high latency for all nodes that sit behind Checkpoint EDGE firewalls using a site to site VPN with our main site where the NPM server resides. NPM is reporting around .5 to 1.5s latency however If I ping any of the nodes from the NPM server the latency is much lower around 60ms. Our sites that use Checkpoint UTM firewalls do not display this behaviour in NPM. Any thoughts?

Are there any analysis rules on the edge slowing things down? We tag our pings with specific text in the ping message, could that be getting more analysis cause it is not a normal windows type ping?
