    Solarwind NPM 10 System manager

    nightmare

The new NPM 10 SP 2 it hard to renme NODE since when need to rename must used web based node management unlike NPM 10 SP1 that we can rename node via System manager gui. Hope solarwind team can bring up again the old system manager feature for easy node management

The plans going forward for SolarWinds are to move away from the System Manager to a web based solution.  In the Node Management section of the web you should easily be able to edit the names of your nodes as well as delete nodes easily.  If you are experiencing problems with this please let us know where the problems or difficulties are so that somebody can try and help you.

actually we used solarwind NPM as additional monitoring to our System Since our system had limited capabilities Such as Node name only had 8 unique character. Since we pool node using SNMP by default solarwind NPM will retrieve 8 unique character as node name. we doesn't want to showing this unique character to our customer then we need to rename back Node name in NPM for easy recognizance.

                etc

actual NODE name is "MAGNUM NILAI "in our System we need to create as "MAG_NLAI" so NPM will pool "MAG_NLAI" as Node id. prevously we using System Manager to rename back actual node Id.

You should be able to rename your nodes just as easily, if not easier in the web interface.  You can go to the node and edit it in the Node Details resource.  Alternatively you can go into the Manage Nodes section of the web interface, select the node you want to edit, and edit it there as well.  Ultimately renaming a node in the web interface is a very easy thing to do.
