Why is DNS field incorrectly reporting the wrong host (no matching PTR record exists).

The DNS field (also known as Reverse DNS) for a device is wrong.

If I do an "nslookup 10.10.1.1" on the windows server that hosts NPM 10.0, it does not resolve. I could add a PTR record.

however, the device name is cust-siteA-rtr01, but "DNS" field in NPM reports as cust-siteB-rtr01.

Is this field really a reverse DNS lookup of the IP address? There are some reports that this field is actually part of the initial device discovery and can only be changed by hacking the SQL DB.

Please advise.
