    Can the NPM syslog server use ports other than UDP 514?

      Can the NPM syslog server use ports other than UDP 514?  Is it capable of listening to two ports at the same time?

      Thanks,

      Erik

          Hi ErikinHell--

          I don't think so, but check out Re: URGENT, need help about additional polling engine post from Andrew Pacetti on NPM Port Requirments. There's a link for you to take to the documentation, too.

            You can change the port here by editing this file

            C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\SyslogService.exe.config

            I am not aware of any way to listen to multiple ports at the same time

            <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

            <configuration>

                 <appSettings>

                      <!--   User application and configured property settings go here.-->

                      <!--   Example: <add key="settingName" value="settingValue"/> -->

                      <add key="ConnectionString" value="data source=SW-SQL;initial catalog=NetPerfMon-V76;password=test;persist security info=True;user id=BKTest;workstation id=BKDESK-SyslogCollector;packet size=8192" />

                      <add key="DBCommandTimeout" value="5" />

                      <add key="LocalIPAddress" value="ANY" />

                      <add key="UDPListenPort" value="514" />

                      <add key="TCPListenPort" value="0" />

                      <add key="DNSCacheTimeOut" value="60" />

                      <add key="MultitaskMessageProcessing" value="True" />

                <add key="RetriesNumber" value="10" />

                <add key="RetriesInterval" value="30" />

                <add key="RetriesIntervalOnFail" value="300" />

              </appSettings>

            </configuration>
