I am eager to hear of a way to change what is reported in the Event viewer. I have added a custom property to my interfaces, and I would like to be able to supress the link up event based on the value of the custom property. The low-value interfaces are also "unplugged" when down.
In fact, I am OK with all events having to be configured through something like Advanced alerts. Perhaps there could be a simple binary check that allows the admin to have
0: all Events show automatically
1: only Events that are generated by Advanced alert are displayed
We looked at trying to resolve this in the release we're currently working on, but it was too close to feature complete. We'll look at this for another release.
