cannot download running config: connection refused, NCM v.6

ssh or telnet?  can  you telnet or ssh from the NCM box to the device via command line or putty?  at this point it could be any number of things

Hmmmm.....could be telnet that's the problem. I just ran the 'Test Job' function and it seems that it wants to use telnet to connect to the devices. We don't allow telnet here in our environment, just SSH. So where can you configure NCM to use SSH instead of telnet?

OK - found the way to set the transfer protocol to SSH - problem now is that despite making this change, NCM continues to try to use Telnet to download device configs....what did I miss?

there is a separate setting for downloading configs, this is from the device tab

Hi, Tony - thanks for your tips. I finally got it working. I wasn't aware that there was a configuration you had to make to select the transfer protocol, so your question about telnet vs. ssh set me off in the right direction. Appreciate the help!!
