Arranging a large group of nodes on a map

I have been trying to figure out how to autoarrange a large group of nodes in Network Atlas once the group has been dropped into the map window. I see the various tools on the Edit tab, but none of them seem to do anything much.

How can I select and then spread a group of nodes so that the labels are all readable and the connections determined by ConnectNow can be seen as well?

There are functions in the AutoArrange and Distribute groups that should help you with arranging the nodes. The AutoArrange functions work on all nodes on the map and they lay out only the nodes that are connected. The nodes that are not connected are put into a separate group. The Arrange Labels function should move all the labels on the map so they are readable.

Well, I must be missing something, because all the tools I try to use still leave the group of nodes all clumped together with the labels all overlapped. In fact, those tools seem to have little effect at all when applied.

If there are a lot of nodes to display on the map the Autoarrange options can have limited success in spreading out the nodes and labels to be readable.
I would recommend going for a tiered map structure, which tends to be far more efficient when reading a map, especially for the top level/s.
