Network atlas status propogation to parent items.

      Hi,

I have a problem that I can't solve in Network atlas.

      The issue is as follows:

I have a map that is made up of various other nested maps, and I want the top level map reference to change status when an interface on device goes down.

This however will not mean the entire device goes down.

Does anyone know how to make the map opbject appear yellow or red in the case of an interface going down?

you can place the interface on the map

              Hi MichalB,

I don't think I have explained my scenario properly.

              Scenario is as follows:

Root Map (Link to Map A & Map B)

              Map A (Link to Map 1 & Map 2)

              Map 1 (Device 1a & 2a )

              Map B (Link to Map 3 & Map 4)

              Map 3 (Device 3a & 3b )

If the link goes down on device 1a, I want the item of Link to Map A to turn red.

This is so if something goes wrong on an interface, I want to know about it at a glance.

              Can this be done?

Paul, I think what Michal is saying is the children of a device only affect the status of the parent if you also add the children to the map. In your case, you want the child interfaces to affect the parent device status, so one possibility is to create another level of submaps representing the interfaces:

Map 1 (Link to Device 1a & Link to Device 2a)

                    Device 1a (interfaces on 1a)

                    Device 2a (interfaces on 2a)

As far as the roll-up is concerned, Network Atlas follows the Status Roll-up Mode you selected in the Web Console.  If you selected "Show Worst Status", Map A would show down status (red) if an interface was down.  If you selected "Show Mixed status", Map A would show mixed availability status (yellow) if an interface was down.
