SNMP Trap messages climbing rapidly

Just out of curiosity we have NPM receiving SNMP trap alerts from our Cisco UCCE solution. In just a couple days there have been 80,000 trap messages. We may need to look into that but out of curiosity will messages just keep piling into the server or is there a period to say if an alert is X old or only keep X alerts?

I just dont want the database to fill up because of silly trap messages.
