Device Poller / Transform Set for ifOutDiscards

I'm trying to create a Device Poller / Transform Set to monitor the MIB counter for ifOutDiscards on a set of switchports. This is an absolute counter, and has no built-in way produce a delta. How can I create something that will allow me to get a meaningful statistic such as ifOutDiscards per minute or per hour ?
